Welcome to our Investment Competition section. Where tech entrepreneurs get to pitch their businesses to our Panelists, and the last 15 finalist entrepreneurs will formally present to the UK's leading Venture Capitalists, at 55 Old Broad Street, London.
All finalists could get funded but only one Entrepreneur can win the prestigious prize of Tech Entrepreneurs Week winner, and receive
£50,000 automatic venture funding. Please see our diagram below of Investment Competition, and below this outlines the process stages for the competition heats.
The Process:
Competition Heats – Days 1-3
On Day 1 – you will be asked to register between 7am-9am.
Between networking with your peers and investors, and attending valuable seminars on how to build your business, nearer the launch date, each primary entrepreneur will receive a schedule of their presentation time with a Tech Entrepreneurs Week Panel (Alpha or Beta).
Each presentation will be 10min’s in which the panel will hear your pitch, guided by a standard presentation format that each Entrepreneur will receive.
At the end of the first presentation (with either Alpha or Beta Panel), each panel member will score the business or idea, and provide invaluable feedback to the Entrepreneur and their team. On Day 3, the top 50 highest scored presentations from each Panel go through to the Second Round of the competition. Again, the Entrepreneur and their team will have 10mins to present again, but this time to the opposite Panel (i.e. If you presented to Alpha Panel in the First Round, in the Second Round you will present to Beta Panel – both Panels are equal), again the Panel will score the presentation.
At the end of the Competition Heats (Day’s 1-3), the scores from all Panel members from the two presentations will be added together, and the top 30 Entrepreneurs will make the Semi-Finals.
Note: that we will be running exciting and highly relevant professional seminars for free during Day’s 1 through 3, and inviting investors to join the Entrepreneur networking throughout the 3 days for informal networking.
Semi-Finals Day 4
The last 30 Entrepreneurs who scored the highest through their two competition heat presentations will be assigned a Panel Member as their coach for delivering their Semi-Finals and Final’s presentations (should they make it through). Each presentation will last 30mins, and again each presentation will be scored by the combined Panels of Alpha and Beta – this time, the Panel will have all members scoring, except for the Panel Member Coach representing their respective presentation.
Additionally, for the Semi-Finals, each Entrepreneur will have a chance to present a custom presentation for projection on PowerPoint.
At the end of the presentations, the highest 15 scored presentations will make it through to Final’s Day at 55 Old Broad Street, London.
VIP Investor Reception Event on Evening of Day 4
Every Entrepreneur will get an invitation to this rare event whereby all investors from leading Venture Capitalists, Institutional Investors, and Angels will be invited to meet all our Entrepreneurs for drinks and canapés - providing the opportunity for Investors and Entrepreneurs to find out more about each other and exchange business cards.
Every Entrepreneur will get a chance to meet investors no matter whether they get through to the Semi-Finals. We expect a lot of relationships to be forged informally throughout networking sessions and at our VIP Investor Reception Event.
Final’s Day 5
The last 15 Entrepreneurs and their teams will attend 55 Old Broad Street, London to present for 30mins in front of the UK’s finest Venture Capitalists. The remaining Finalists will be coached by their respective Panel Member, but this time, the Venture Capitalist will score the presentations. Again, each Entrepreneur will use their custom presentation they used in their Semi-Finals round. The Venture Capitalists audience will crown the Tech Entrepreneurs Week Winner, and they will receive the automatic £50,000 venture funding.
While there is only one winner, all Finalists have won by getting the opportunity to formally present to Venture Capitalists, thus making it possible for many ventures to get funded out of the Final’s Day.
